The ultimate sacrifice

How you know I love my mother:
I took my lovely Jaywalkers (already to the heel flap) off my lovely Boyle DPNs and put them on the icky Bryspuns.
Why? So her sock (which I had totally given up on) could have the nice needles, since it has been determined that she will receive handknit socks for her birthday (jan 29). As you may remember, I hate knitting these socks; the yarn feels like twine and the knitting was. so. slow.
However, after a pitiful comment from my mom about never getting the socks she thought were coming...I woke up this morning determined to finish the damn things. At first I thought I'd go to the LYS to get some Boyle's for her socks (I'm trying to convince myself it's the needles I hate, not the yarn), and would just work on both pair of socks...but I know me, and I'm probably not getting out of my PJs today...at least not before the LYS closes. So I switched needles. The lovely Jaywalkers are now on the crappy needles, which indicates I won't be touching them in the near future and my mom's socks are slipping along happily, a few rows from the toe shaping.
I figure it's better this way, the Jaywalkers won't tempt me away from the Mom Socks...which means I'll finish them sooner and possibly even before her birthday.
Oh and did I mention I want to knit her a hat and armwarmers to match her first FO (a lovely garter scarf out of Silk Garden *which she refers to as Silk Crack* and Iro)? All in the next 2 weeks? While I finish my cardigan and Backyard Leaves?
Ah Jaywalkers, you're time will come....
