Crocheted Wire Votive Sleeve Tutorial (ish)

Enough whining about my camera! I'm moving on to full on Christmas crafting!
For the first time in my working life, I'm taking part in a Office Christmas Party (I keep hoping it will turn out like The Office's Christmas party).
(picture from The Office, not mine)

At first it was feared that everyone (all 6 of us, everyone other than me, over 60) was expected to buy gifts for everyone, but soon we decided on one of those White Elephant/Yankee/Whatever-you-want-to-call-it swaps where we each buy a gift, wrap it and then take turns choosing a gift or swapping with someone else. The limit was set at $5 which is great for my wallet, not so great for the chances of getting a good gift. I decided, while wandering/wondering the aisles of Micheals, to make wire, beaded votive sleeves. Much like Grumperina's, but crocheted (I haven't done an extensive comparison, but it seems crocheting with wire would be less painful than knitting, since the hook does all the looping and pulling, not my delicate fingers).
Now, I'm not a big crocheter, so if I can figure it out, you can too. I used :
  • Size I metal crochet hook
  • 1 spool of 26 gauge wire (75 yards for 2 votive sleeves)
  • assorted clear and crystal-y beads (so it'll match any decor!)
  • and some votive holders I found at Target (8 for $5)
First, I strung on beads. No counting, just until I got tired of it. I chained enough to fit around the base of my votives (about 15?) , joined the round and double crocheted (I think) around, slipping the beads onto the stitches at each YO. After 3 rounds, my sleeve fit my votive, so I cut the wire and pulled the end through the last loop. To "weave in" the ends, I just tucked them on the inside and crimped the end around a stitch.
Voila! Crocheted Wire Votive Sleeve! (pictures will be posted as soon as the camera issue is resolved, read this to help).
If you make one, show me!
