Christmas Gift List

Christmas is coming, and this Thursday list is dedicated to getting my Christmas list in order, both knitting and non-knitting.

Mom:
requested an entrelac wrap, out of Silk Garden (color 205 and 251). I might sub Patons SWS, b/c it's cheaper, but it doesn't come in vibrant, mom-like colors. She's also getting the socks she demanded and a pair of slippers. Her birthday is in January, so I'm thinking of that too, I'd like to give her some handspun yarn, or a lacy scarf from my handspun yarn, and a pair of slippers (she wears through them fast)

My little brothers (6 & 7)
: Last year they loved their slippers and dino hats, so maybe slippers? Probably the ones from Tracey Ullman's book (Knit 2Together ?). I was recently asked to design a kid/baby pattern, so if I come up with something they'd like, I'll pass it along to them.

Jamie:
something...(I know, but I also know that last year she read this and ruined (ruined!) my idea) and her birthday is in January, so something then, too!

Grams, Grandma, MIL:
Slippers or lacy shawls/scarves.
Slippers would be easier, but there are several lace shawls I want to knit, and I already have yarns that would be perfect for each of them. I'm going to see what I feel like knitting, and as the time draws near and the pressure mounts, I'll figure something out. Since I'll probably see Grandma at Thanksgiving and not at Christmas, I'm thinking of bringing her a lacy scarf/shawl at that time. But what to give her husband? Slippers?
Last Friday I cast on Shetland Triangle Shawl from Wrap Style in slate blue Zephyr, I'm thinking it will be a gift for one of the three, since it's not really my color...

Rob & Sam:
recently moved to cold WI and share one hat between the two of them. It's striped wool with angora/alpaca and they've worn the poor thing to death. My hope is to recreate the hat (into 2 hats) with Cascade 220 and Indulgence. I'm thinking one in brown and tan and one with gray and black, that way they'll each have one, and they'll both be uni-sex.

I really want to focus on handmade/indie gifts this holiday season. Not necessarily handmade by me, mind you. I want to support some of the small businesses I admire, and I'm blessed that a good chunk of my family and friends like this sort of thing too. Some small indies I think we should allshop from:

Posie-I particularly like her paper notions and birdy things, but want I really want is her studio!
Kingpod: How 'bout those postcards and art quilts?
Wee Wonderfuls: If I knew anyone at all who stitched, I'd snatch up those Stitchettes
My Paper Crane: Who doesn't want a tearfull burnt toast plushie? Or ohhh, a donut!
Five and a half: Journals! handmade from recycled goodness!
