Well, it finally hit me: the overwhelming sensation that this is, as many have been saying, The Summer of the Sock.
During my temporary insanity (ie. working 2 jobs) I cast on 2 socks.
The first, in the Koigu from Maryland Sheep and Wool, best seen in this photo.
Here's where it's stalled, I pulled out the needles to use for my new knee highs.
I loved knitting these socks, they seemed to go so fast and I finally understand why so many sing the praises of Koigu. It is bouncy, soft and really puffs up in the stitch, making a dense, sproingy fabric. My new love of Koigu might have driven me to purchase some from the big KnitHappens.com sale and tell my husband it was an anniversary gift. Although it's altogether possible I just dreamt that.
I cast on, for the above sock and the following sock, on Aug 18th, using my Friday night off (while Hub was at work) to do the fiddly cast on and short row toes.

The second sock is the partner to this sock, which my mom has claimed. Unless some other gift-giving occasion arises, this will be one of her Christmas gifts.
Just last week I cast on for yet another sock, this time a knee high, more on that tomorrow!
(PS. my dearest friend is flying home from London today, after a year away, keep her in your thoughts and prayers)
