Well, my yarn lust was (thankfully) thwarted when all the yarn I had been drooling on was purchased by others. *sigh*. I did, however, fulfill my sudden desire for crochet by making my first granny square-wooo! It'll be headed off to the Warming Grace project as soon as I make a few more.
Whenever I find myself feeling distracted and dissatisfied with the direcetion of my projects (or my life for that matter), it always helps to knit something for charity. I know it's cliched, but it really does recharge me and remind me to be thankfull for what I already have. Knitting squares is so refreshing in itself...so small and repetitive and...do-able. There's no time to get bored with it and if it frustrates you, there's no "lost time"...just rip it out and move on! Squares are really the essence of knitting, for me, the embody all the things that drew me to knitting to begin with: the simplicity, the virtue in functuality, the soothing repetitive movements, the sense that I am creating...not just a beautiful item but a useful, full-of-love and time and energy gift for those I love.
Those gals at Mason-Dixon are on to something, no?
PS. Just updated my Etsy site with two new purpley yarns.
