I feel like this. The blue guy is my sweater...I'm the one in yellow.
I knit about 4 inches of my Olympic cardigan when I realised I wouldn't have enough...not even with the Karaoke I was using for trim. I did lots of maths...trying to figure out a way to use this yarn for this sweater. Did I mention I bought it on sale from handpaintedyarn.com...there is none left. However, there is some bulky weight yarn in the same color which I ordered yesturday (I used the library computer to make a purchase...you know I must be desparate to overlook my ginormous fear of identity theft).
I love their customer service: I requested that they let me know if it would be longer than a week before it was sent (I bought express shipping, hoping if they sent it this week, I'd get it in time to add the trim before the Olympics are over).
I thought my problems were solved. I kept knitting, and this morning had about 8in.
Until. I checked my email about 5 minutes ago.
Now I fee like this:

It will be at least 2 weeks before the yarn is shipped.
So now the question:
Do I knit what I can of this cardigan and complete it when the yarn gets here, forgetting about the Olympics?
Do I start another Olympic project, taking into consideration my limited time table and go back to the cardigan when the yarn comes in? (alternative projects: Sweater out of Cascade 220 from stash, entrelac wrap, fingerless gloves and scarf, recycling yarn from an old sweater into the Leaf Lace Pullover from Loop D Loop)
Or do I sit down in the snow and cry?

Yeah I would start on something else and finish the cardi when you get the yarn and the Olympis are over. Were you going to double the Karaoke yarn to get guage? How did you purchase the pattern with out the kit? I love this pattern. Also which pattern are you considering for Casscade 220 yarn?

You can sit in the snow and cry WHILE knitting on your alternate. How's that for a compromise?

If the US women's figure skating team can use an alternate, so can you. :)

You are hilarious.

I knit the lace leaf sweater, and I love it! I wear it often.
