I've been knitting away with no interesting to pictures to share-but now! Now-2 FOs for your viewing pleasure!
I cast on for the heavily modified sleeve (Josephine) on Monday night, during The Big Lebowski and finished it this afternoon. I cast on for the right front panel on Wednesday evening and finished it last night. The sleeve took longer because
a) it's boring
b) it's knit on slippery strait needles which I do not enjoy
c) the kitten likes to chase these particular needles, making it a frutstrating game of pull and push.
I can't say anything about the front panel-it was such a pleasant breeze!
I'm right on schedule to finish Josephine in time to mail it to Rissa while she's in the states (I never know if I should capitalize that) for Thanksgiving...and I should have CO for the second sleeve or panel.
Instead, I went yarn shopping...all the way to Bellevue, KY
Why? Why would put a perfectly timely project on hold? What yarn could I possibly want to buy?
A while ago, Hub and I decided that his dad would receive fingerless gloves (Hub designed them!) and a scarf for Christmas in his team's colors (UT: orange, navy and white). Last year we bought some orange yarn and I had yet to use it, so I CO for some garter stitch fingerless mitts (from Weekend Knititng). After an hour, I realised I HATED this yarn (GGH wollywasch); it felt all slimey and gross, which I guess is the chemicals they use to make it washable. Well, Hub wasn't happy with the pattern anyhow so we decided to find some good yarn and to design the gloves ourselves. He also pleaded with me to finish the mitts before he and his dad went to see UT play next weekend. Well then, we had to buy the yarn immediately
Which broght us here, the only yarn shop within an hour of our house open on a Sunday.
It is the MOST overwhelming yarn store ever, with yarn spilling from every wall and available space:
Right away we picked out Ole Faithful: Lamb's Pride Worsted in Orange Ya Glad, Blue Flannel and White Frost. This orange is SO hard to photograph...but you get the idea:
We grabed some Clover needles from Joanne's and headed to the theater to see Good Night, and Good Luck. I knit up this little swatch so Hub could decide what stitch he wanted as the background.
I think this means Josephine will be on hold until I finish working out the design and knitting these bad boys. I'll need to finish them by Thursday evening. Hmmm...can it be done?
Thanks for voting on the MIL Conundrum: It's been decided (50%!) that we'll go with a cookbook. Thanks again!

Totally random comment to set that wonder to rest: If you are referring to The United States when you say "states" it should be capitalized.
