What a day! I woke up earlier than hub and so I knit quietly in the bed next to him. I finished the last sleeve on my Mom's Rose Sweater and was so proud that I had bought the EXACT amount of yarn I needed. This is all I had left over after finishing the sleeve, before sewing it up.
Then I remembered, the collar was still unfinished, I had planned on picking up the sts around the collar and knitting a 5 row Seed st border. But I wasn't sure I even had enough yarn to pick up the stitches, let alone bind them off! The drama! The stress! But, alas, it was the miracle of the Hannakuh oil and I got 2 rows of Seed stitch and bound off...and I had this much yarn left (still need to sew up)
Andre takes sewing up very seriously, and he's an excellent quality control officer: if I make a mistake, he attacks the hand.
I just threw the sweater down for this shot, so it looks assymetrical (sp?), but it's not. Finito!
And this is how much yarn I had left over after it was all done...
After a morning of sewing up,I finally allowed Jay to eat (Cracker Barell, or, as it was known when we worked there: The Crack House)
After a delicious breakfast we went to get our new kitty! Her mom was a rescue cat that had her litter on a very nice lady's back porch. We had to drive to this lady's house, and although she was quite helpful and kind... well, I've never been in a house with so many cats. Poor Jay isn't really allergic to cats, but he immediately started sniffing and sneezing and tearing up. Although I love my Dr. 'Dre (my fave nickname for our kitty) I don't think I could live with that many kitty-friends.
But anyhow: we picked a winner! She was very snuggly when we met her, and she's so cute! Here she is on the way home...
She's still unnamed (suggestions?) and quite timid around Jay and I, although she seems perfectly at ease with Andre, although her tinyness freaks him out a bit.
Whew!
