confession

I have a confession: I've spent more time planning my crafting business (thinking of a name, desiging business cards, etc) that I've actually crafted very little.
But I have enjoyed the weather:

I've also worked on adapting All Tangled Up's Kiri Shawl...as much as I love it, I want something other than the fern pattern. What would really help at this point is one of those stitch dictionaries...as it is, I looked up some stuff on the web and found a star stitch lace pattern that I like. Sadly, it works nothing like the fern motif, so after much charting and re-chartiing I came to the conclusion that I should just wing it, using her shawl as an indication of the structure of a shawl. Clearly, I have a lot of work ahead of me. Another design I'm working on is a skirt, similar to Christine's Fishtail Skirt, but longer and more A-line..oh and with a different lace pattern. So, yeah, I like to look at patterns and totally change them! I'm trying to learn about how legitimate my own design is, if it really is my own design or if I'm cramping their style if I sell it as my own. I guess we'll just look at the finished piece and decide if it actually ressembles their designs at all
