I should have known.
Naming a project after a team known for it's bad luck and close calls is just asking for trouble! Even though the Red Sox won last night, our house had a moment of mourning: Hub's Red Sox Socks weren't ready to wear for opening day.
In fact, the first sock was zipping along:into the cuff when we decided to try it on Hub's foot. Unlike my lady-like feet, the circumference of his foot increases by a full 2 inches as it moves into his ankle, nearly 2 inches before the heel starts! I wasn't anticipating this, as I'm anke-less and the top of my foot is perfectly flat until my leg begins.
See that knitting needle sticking in the fabric?
That is the point that the sock goes from snugly fitting to evil strangulation.
Which means, this is the point that I had to rip back to.
*sigh*
Yesterday was a day of bad news; knitting, financial, and otherwise. At least in knitting, unlike life, I can rip back and make it right, make it good for those I love, and give myself that few more inches of knitting pleasure.

Goodness- those are some big socks! Knitting for the menfolk is a pain sometimes.
