So remember when I thought I'd never get a job?
Well, I have two (and I type this from one of 'em).
They're both temporary. And yet, full-time.
I'm temp-ing at ETSU in Accounts Payable for the next 4 weeks: M-F 8a-4:30p.
I'm training at Starbucks: 4 nights a week 5-9p and Sunday morning 8a-2p.
I hope to have some interviews for full-time positions (I applied to several positions, weeks ago, but they weren't starting the interview process until mid-August) but until then I feel I'm constantly at work, never knitting, never sitting (well, ok, I sit at the office, but not in my PJs!)
You see, I never intended to have two jobs. I applied at a gazillion places and then...nothing. I knew I'd have to wait for the full-time positions I really really want, but we couldn't afford for me to not work for over a month. When Starbucks called, I reluctantly agreed to take the job. I got in one week of training before ETSU called to say they were short on temps and noticed I had applied for a bunch of jobs on campus-would I be interested in temp work? Yes! Anything to get away from slinging coffee and feeling that I've wasted my degree. At least in an office I could dress up and sit down (I like sitting). The temp job will last anywhere between 6 and 8 weeks, so it is very likely that I'll know whether I have the full-time positions before it's over, but what if I don't? I can't very well quit Starbucks: a steady job that will give me as many hours as I need, free coffee and health insurance when I'm not sure I have another job at the end of August!
So here I am, typing in stealth mode, looking foward to my first evening at home all week.
I'm alive (barely)
