I did it.
I knit lace.
I knit a shawl.
I am totally in love!
Pattern: Elizabeth Zimmerman's Pi Shawl (from Knitter's Almanac) some charts from the EZasPI group
Yarn: KnitPicks Alpaca Cloud in Mist-1 skein (and about 10 yards of a second)
Needles: Denise Interchangable US8
CO: 6/1/06
BO:7/6/07
My only problem: it's too small for me! When across my shoulders in comes to my elbows, which is not what I want in a circular shawl. I'm not really upset, because I love it so dearly and it was such fun to knit (this was the travelling shawl, remember?) It will go in the "gift" pile and some lucky (though small) recipient will have a fantastic gift. Perhaps Grams (though she might think it's too "old lady")? Hub has a few aunts that are under 5' tall, but if I gave one of 'em a shawl, they'd all need a shawl, ya know? Perhaps if there are no worthy small people, it shall become a coffee table...doily *cue scary music*. Ok, so not a doily, but definately a fancy tablecloth...I can see it in front of my new couch (it comes on Wednesday) with a pot of fresh daisies atop it, can't you?
If nothing else, the cats sure dig it:

and because it was the travelling shawl, it took one last ride on the dashboard:

Your shawl is beautiful!!
Your shawl if fantastic. I have crocheted lace which for whatever reason doesn't faze me . . . but the idea of knitting lace just sends me right over the edge! Great job!
p.s. I love your blog
The shawl is gorgeous!
Have you blocked it out as far as it will go? You maybe could block it bigger and then keep it.
Wow, just beautiful!
Beautiful!!
Your shawl is beautiful! I started a Mystery Pi in #20 thread, but have not finished yet. I may have to knit a few more rounds tonight!

Wow, wow, WOW!!!! Soooooo beautiful! You should be so proud. Great work!!!
I keep a few shawls tossed on the backs of the couches. They make me smile and I really like the smaller ones to wear as shrugs when it's chilly at night.
I was startled when I knit a shawl for my grandmother (who has a big personality) that a tiny shawl fit her petite shoulders perfectly.
that is absolutely beautiful.. !!
Breathtaking! you did a fantastic job : )
