Squared

My love affair with the mitered square continues apace.
These two are made out of my first handspun:
I'm planning a blanket out of all my handdyed yarns (as a display piece for shows) and am using these squares to decide between St st or Garter stitch. I guess the blanket could be a combination of both...although I do like the garter stitch best.

And a close up of the St st square
The current SIP (that'd be square in progress) is out of the alpaca I dyed and spun:
To further feed my bizzare desire to knit nothing but squares I'll share my newest plan:
knit my inlaws a Christmas gift throw out various Malabrigo/Manos yarns, a la Alison.
Why the sudden lust for simple knitting? Must be this b**h of a pattern I'm writing for Spun (allover lace pattern, with shaping in a drapey yarn) and the draining work that is involved in leaving one's job.
Oh yeah, did I mention that? I'm leaving my job as manager of the Paint-Your-Own Pottery studio. There are like, a gajillion reasons, only one of them being our April 15th payroll checks just showed up today. And leaving is NOT any less stressfull than actually working there, since I'm still the manager and am filling in for every sick employee and am training someone to take over for me. Oh, and I have the yarn shop job three days/week. And I'm starting a business.
A pretty good reason for mindless knitting, eh?

I like the squares!

Work changes can take some getting used to, but I'm sure you'll weather it fine.

Mitered squares are so lovely! I really like the look of the garter stitch square - but I'm a nut for texture.

I vote for the Garter stitch too...the thick/thin aspect of the yarn seems to even out better in that stitch than in the stockinette (the square is more square!)
