I had a great time with Jamie, it was the perfect combination of talking, coffee, cheesecake, knitting in bed and yarn fondling (sounds sexy, eh?). After getting there Tuesday morning she filled me in on her birthday weekend (lots of boyfriend analysis ensued), we got some Chinese and went in search of yarn. This site was the most useful I found after Googling "columbus yarn"....but Alison has a great review of each of the shops. Check it out for pictures (I was having too much fun to remember to pull out my camera). First stop: Temptations (no site): an adorable house in an adorable town full of adorable houses. The most Rowan yarn I've ever seen in one place, along with every Noro, Cascade, Lamb's Pride color available. I loved the set-up, and it could have had a great vibe if the staff had been friendly. They were not.
Next up: Knitter's Mercantile. It definately didn't have the ambience of Temptations, but the staff was so friendly and the shelves so overflowing...Irresistable! The new Lily Chin and Louisa Harding yarn lines along with more Mango Moon yarns than I knew existed. I loove shops like this: Everthing right out on the shelves, a staff encouraging you to fondle it and yarns I've never met before *sigh*
That's all for the yarn shop content...the rest of the visit was spent slurping coffe, watching The Producers, eating cheesecake, and knitting in our PJs.
Edited to add:
Laying in bed knitting with your best friend looks a little like this. The book is Alterknits, the other part of Jamie's B-day gift.

Hmmm. Nope, I can't think of anything more perfect than lounging around in PJs eating cheesecake, drinking coffee, and playing with yarn. Especially if you get to do all of the above with another corrupted person. :)
