Holiday dissapointments

Well, the sock I was working on was coming along nicely..that is, until my mom ruined everything...
So I taught her to knit and that's great right? Well, she was so excited to get to a LYS that she came over unnanounced Thursday morning, which wouldn't normally be a problem, except that her sock was sitting right in the middle of the coffee table. She walked right over to it and started admiring it! Ack! I chocked back a cry of protest and made something up about them being for me. Which she clearly saw through, but is too kind to call me on it.
Note: In my family, seeing a gift before Christmas is a major taboo.
So there's no way she's getting it for Christmas now! Luckily her birthday is in January, so I'll be finishing the pair by then. As soon as we got home that afternoon, I put the sock away and got out the yarn for the Hurry Up Spring Armwarmers. I cast on Thursday evening and finished them this morning:

Woo! I loved the pattern! The yarn I dyed didn't come out as stripey as I had hoped, but it's nice and variegated with blues and greens. This was the only pic I could snap in the cold weather, I should get a better one with them on her hand!
This evening I'm babysitting my lil bros, and will have lots of time to knit! I'll be working on this hat in the above yarn for Mom, and then will start on the boys' hats.
I'm actually right on Christmas Knitting schedule!

They came out great! Your mom will love them, she better not find this project.
